Short, anonymous gameplay data

What is collected

• A random session identifier created for the current browser tab
• Game opens, homepage choices, journeys started and completed, whether you chose Today’s Challenge or Play, clues reached, answer screens opened, answers correct or incorrect, score stage, reveals, replays, result shares, one-tap route difficulty or map-help ratings, and technical errors
• The journey code connected to those events
• If you choose to send written feedback: your optional comment

What is not collected

The game does not ask for or save your name, email address, account, typed destination answer, or precise location. It does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

Storage on your device

Your current Play journey, recent Play route history, in-progress Daily attempt, Daily results and streak, and whether you have already sent a comment are stored in your browser. They are used to prevent a reload from resetting a Daily score, reduce repeats and show your Daily record. You can remove them by clearing this site’s browser data.

Satellite map provider

Satellite imagery is delivered by Esri’s ArcGIS Basemap Styles service. When the map loads, your browser connects to Esri and necessarily shares connection information such as your IP address, browser details, referring site, and the map tiles requested. See the Esri Privacy Statement for details.

How the data is used

Collected data is used only to understand whether people start, finish, solve, replay, share, and enjoy the game, and to diagnose technical problems. Ratings and feedback comments may be read by the game creator. Results are shown as aggregate game statistics. Raw gameplay events older than 90 days and feedback older than 180 days are removed automatically, based on when the server received them.

Your choice

Difficulty ratings and written feedback are optional. You can play without submitting either. If you do not want local journey history retained, clear the site data in your browser after playing.
